“A ghostly tale full of twists and fun to read”
This was my first book written by Tracey Atkinson Page and I will certainly look out for more of her work after such a good read.
I must confess to liking a good ghost story and this one didn’t disappoint.
Set in the post Second World War period life at that time is so accurately portrayed it’s clear that the author has done the research and you really get a feel for how challenging life must have been at that time - but also how resilient grieving families had to become- especially the many families like Winston’s ( widower and two lively daughters),who feature throughout. These characters and the rest are described in wonderful and sometimes funny detail making for a memorable story.
I plot and twists make for a highly engaging story and set against a classic ghost story background of a sinister church and its goings on for me the story was a winner! A recommended read.

The Sleeping Ghosts of Timerton was one of my favorite reads. The atmosphere is beautifully crafted, creating a hauntingly immersive setting that feels mysterious without relying solely on scares. From the very beginning, I found myself completely invested in uncovering the history surrounding Timerton and the secrets hidden beneath its quiet surface.
The characters felt authentic and emotionally grounded, which made the supernatural elements even more compelling. Rather than simply telling a ghost story, the novel explores memory, grief, family, and the lasting impact of the past on the present.
The pacing builds steadily, with each revelation adding another layer to the mystery until everything comes together in a deeply satisfying conclusion. If you enjoy atmospheric mysteries with a touch of the supernatural and plenty of emotional depth, I highly recommend this one.

This is a compelling read and well written, intriguing story set in a large, gloomy house full of mystery. Tracey's style is very descriptive. It was easy to imagine the lonely setting, which still has an air of post-war dereliction. It begins with two sisters and their emotionally struggling father arriving at Timerton Rectory for the reading of a will. I liked the way the story is led by the sisters and then weaves into a situation where the reader meets the adult characters. This is a very inclusive book for YA and adult readers. Preconceptions are gradually shifted to a satisfying ending for the family members.
