A Journey Into Imagination and Mystery

The Story Behind The Sleeping Ghosts of Timerton

I was inspired to write this story by my late mother who'd been a child during the war and experienced heartbreak and loss, and despite wanting to help with the homeless and injured, was considered too young to   understand or be useful. Adults never listened to the children, who’d had to grow up fast and manage, often without a parent. Clara and Margaret are representative of the many   post-war, tacit voices of children who seek out adventure in life after the trauma of war to prove themselves as capable individuals, whatever their age.

The period in which this is set demonstrates how much fun  children can have without the need for any modern technology and by using their  imagination they can solve mysteries and crimes.  A painting is all they had but that simple piece of art held so much knowledge.

A qualified private pilot at 17, a Commercial Pilot, and winner of multiple flying awards, she had always favoured the creative arts so upon retiring from a high-pressure environment involving criminal intelligence she returned to her love of writing to bring pleasure to others. She holds a BA (Hons) in English Literature and Creative Writing and is also a qualified English Teacher. She spends many hours a day writing in her garden chalet with the support of her orphan ginger cat and surrounded by a wall of books. Her ambition in life is to play a part in encouraging young readers to read books with the same enthusiasm that she had at the age of 4 when she first started writing stories for her dolls.
